Wellbeing has a place at our school

In the week from 13 to 20 February, the Czech Republic hosted the zero edition of the Week for Wellbeing. And we couldn't miss it either.

We received a number of inspiring materials on the topic, which made us think about what we are doing for wellbeing and where we can add more. We try to get the principles of wellbeing into our everyday activities because we know that wellbeing needs to be nurtured. It is not a state that comes once and stays, but a process that is constantly tested by new challenges. And the more people in one place (meaning at school), the more opportunities for wellbeing to be strengthened but also destroyed.


Take care of your body and soul. Advice for students and teachers.
For all of us, body and soul are the main working tools. And if they are not well, then our work will not go well. And that goes for both children and adults. That's why we support teachers in learning (not just about) how to take care of themselves. We try to listen to them and work together to solve problems and share joys, which is what our weekly meetings are for. 

The community circle as a place of sharing.
We pay the same attention to the pupils - we observe how they feel, what they say, how they behave. If something doesn't seem right, we try to address it. Morning community circles are just one opportunity for children to talk about how they are doing. And if there's something bigger going on with the kids that's beyond the school's capacity, we bring in the parents. The goal is to help those in need as quickly and effectively as possible.  


Shared experiences are the basis for good relationships. 
Last but not least, we always keep in mind that we also need to have good experiences together and it is necessary to create opportunities to enjoy time together. This is also what we use
