We explore the world and invite the world to join us
And so when the Kontxa Eskola school from Karrantz approached us at the beginning of the school year with a proposal for cooperation between our schools, we did not hesitate. What followed were not only preparations between the teachers of both schools, but also exchanges of emails, video recordings and online calls between our fifth and sixth graders and their sixth graders. It all culminated in the fourth week of April with a visit to our Spanish, or rather Basque, school.
And it wasn't just any visit - the children from Kontxa Eskola got right into the family life of our pupils and stayed with them. It was a challenge - they are still learning English and their native language is Basque. On the other hand - they all experienced first-hand how useful it is to learn English.
Besides getting to know each other, introducing the school and walking around Prague, the Spanish partners had another plan. Their project deals with the drying up of our planet. Together with our children, they were therefore dedicated to this topic. They carried out experiments with water, talked about the importance of water and visited a waterworks to see for themselves the functioning of the water infrastructure in Prague.
It all culminated (but did not end) with a joint party at the Karlín Barracks. Before our friends from Spain could arrive in Prague, we managed to get Erasmus+ accreditation. The first destination is clear - already in June our fifth and sixth graders are going to Karrantza to visit their friends. This looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
